Way ahead of its time- still holds up today … brilliant!

What always bothered me about this movie was the idea that instead of spending the money on preserving plants on Earth we would spend billions on a spacecraft. Neal Tyson has also mentioned that spending money to "escape" Earth is a waste of time since the money required would be better spent solving our problems here on Earth so we wouldn't need to leave! Aside from this complaint I still liked the movie as Bruce Dern is a fine actor and the quality of the film was excellent. This film did serve a purpose as it made people more environmentally aware and the "Earth Movement" really took off in the 1970s with president Nixon signing several environmental preservation laws into effect.

I really enjoyed that movie. I think I saw it in elementary school.

I loved the film back then - and still do. This film is still of actual value. Should re-appear on late night TV way more frequent to remember the people that environmental protection achievements are not the invention of swedish schoolgirls and her friends. The awareness started *way* earlier. Thanks for showing !

The Starlost, 1973 1 season, had an ark spaceshop that had numerous domes on it.

I loved that movie too. And one thing that I think was funny is the fact that the president had to look as handsome as John F. Kennedy

This was one of my mom's favorite movies, and I remember seeing it all throughout the 1970s. This was my favorite sci-fi movie until Star Wars took me away at age 12 in 1977. I always wished Aurora or Revell would have made a model of the Valley Forge!

Dan, I filed this show under “too quirky to turn away. There was a lot of detail in the scenes and the characters were compelling to this teenager at the time. Loved this show but would never let my friends know I was watching it. Nowdays, with a good marijuana buzz, this show would be even more interesting and popular. Dan, I don’t know much about your professional background but you have a great voice and manner for TV and radio. Your show is wonderful.

As someone born in '67 to movie loving parents I was constantly at the movies from the earliest. As far as Sci-Fi goes, this is the one that opened my eyes and expanded my mind and emotional intelligence. I saw this one as a Kindergartener but it has stayed with me for my whole life. The way the humanist perspective is juxtaposed with post (or pre) apocalyptic themes, and the individualist set against the mob mentality still resonates so loudly. Bruce Dern's most important role...until of course, General Sandford Smithers (kidding).

I liked the movie overall. Since this was a positive review I'm guessing that's why the flying through the planet wasn't mentioned. Those space spiders reminded me of the "replicators" on SG1, and I can't help but wonder if that's were they got the idea from. LIS predated the introduction of the replicators by a few years.

Thinking about the condition to Earth eluded to in this film makes me think about what Earth looks like in Wall-E.

Boring got to 5 minutes and total bore
